FAQs
What are inventory Modifiers?
Modifiers allow you to customize and track individual components that make up a finished product at the time of sale. Some common use cases include latte flavors for coffee shops, toppings or sides for food service businesses, plus, personalizations for made-to-order products.
Can Modifiers be nested or combined?
Yes. On the Modifiers page in Thrive Inventory you can create and map Modifier Groups to the products in your inventory. For example, “Ice Cream Toppings,” “Latte Milk Substitutions,” or “Burger Toppings.”
How does Thrive Inventory ensure real-time deduction of inventory for Modifiers, especially when multiple Modifiers are chosen in a single transaction?
Modifiers are incredibly useful for accurate quantity deductions, restocks, and substitutions. When you create your Modifier Group, you will determine the minimum and maximum number of Modifiers that must be selected at checkout. For example, most coffee shops allow drinks with whole or almond milk, but not both simultaneously.
You can have multiple products with Modifier Groups attached to it. In the case of the coffee shop, you can also create Modifiers for an extra shot of espresso and syrup flavorings.
Modifier inventory is deducted at the time of checkout.
Can the Thrive Inventory handle fractional deductions?
Yes. Input up to three decimal places for increased accuracy.
How easy is it to create and manage Modifier Groups within Thrive Inventory?
If Modifiers are already set up in your Clover or Square POS, Thrive Inventory will bring them in automatically during your initial import. Otherwise, you can always import or create them manually.
To take Modifier creation off your team’s plate, talk to Thrive’s Professional Service team and let us take care of it for you.
How does Thrive Inventory handle real-time stock deductions for Modifiers across sales channels?
At this time, Clover and Square are available for Modifier support.
When a Modifier is selected, inventory will be deducted at the time of sale. These stock counts will be reflected in your sales channels (Clover or Square) within 2-3 minutes on average.
Can additional charges be set per Modifier?
The Modifier price should be any additional cost (to the customer) for those added items. When a Modifier price is entered, it will be added to your customer’s subtotal at checkout.
